cc Artist Carolyn Taylor
creates contemporary and original paint and stitch pictures. Taking her inspiration from our natural environment
and combining painting, stitching, couching and layering she creates tactile and emotive art. Carolyn’s work is all
hand made and produced to a high standard, no two pictures are ever the same, making each piece an original piece of
art. She says “when I observe a beautiful sunset or seascape or the intricate pattern of a tree’s bark
or the wind rushing through a field of grass and poppies, I always feel a powerful sense of escapism, a sense of belonging,
a sense of a time gone before and a sense of humility and perspective. These emotional and visual observations are what inspire
me to create.” Carolyn completed a BA Fine Art (Hons) degree at The Surrey Institute of
Art and Design (now UCA) in Farnham. She then went on to complete a P.G.C.E at the Institute of Education in London.
In the following years her time was spent travelling and working within various corporate companies, gaining valuable
business knowledge. Finally in November 2004 after moving to Hampshire, Carolyn became a full time artist. She says
"My main aim is to evoke a thought or memory or to simply entice people to interact with my pictures by wanting
to touch, investigate, look deeply and with each time observe something different or new".
